OW Marton Mere Outing, 10th July

Our friendly group met up at Marton Mere. This 35 ha tranquil haven of wildlife holds SSSI status. “Tranquil” that is, save for a glorious orchestral backdrop of bird song. Marton Mere (Old English: mere + tun = lake town)
was designated a Local Nature Reserve in the 1990s having previously having had a chequered past. Click here to view the report.
