Simon Graham – Elswick outing, 16th August 2023

A lovely day for enjoying nature, such a shame that only 3 of us turned up for Phil’s exploration of Elswick and it’s new pond. But nature must have been expecting us, as almost all of the dragonflies and butterflies that Phil was going to show us kept away. We did see Speckled Wood, Large White and Gatekeeper butterflies, Common Darter and Migrant Hawker dragonflies, and Blue-tailed Damselflies.
Phil is so lucky having such a place on his doorstep, with the opportunity to interact with nature without having to travel any distance. The new pond looked as though it had been there for years, not just 18 months, and is worth a visit. Simon
