Simon Graham – Ulverston recce, 12th September 2026
This approximately 6 mile circular walk has a little of everything from coastal paths with beautiful views across Morecambe Bay to country lanes and woodland trails.
The coach will drop us off on the main road and from there we will walk down the drive to Conishead Priory. After a short stop for toilets we will walk down through the woods to the beach and then walk along the coast, with a short diversion along the new King Charles III England Coastal Path (it’s nearly 2,700 miles long) until we reach the coastal road, where there are plenty of benches to enjoy lunch while enjoying the wonderful views across Morecambe Bay.
We will then climb uphill to Birkrigg Common, with a stop at the top to catch your breath, and an option for people to view the Stone Circle and surrounding area before continuing along and then downhill to Bardsea, walking through the village to return to Conishead Priory.
On our return, there will be ample time to visit the beautiful Buddhist Temple, explore the gardens and woodlands, spend time in the gift shop and enjoy the delicious cakes in the cafe.
If you do not wish to join us on our planned walk you are very welcome to explore Conishead Priory, as there are plenty of interesting things to see and do including a variety of shorter walks and the beach which is about 10 minutes away.
