Dave Blant – Rivington walk, 15th August 2026
After being picked up by the coach we drive straight to the Great Barn, where there are toilets and a lovely cafe for our morning break. We’ll leave the Barn at about 10.30am and take a different route where we walk along by Lower Rivington Reservoir to reach Rivington Green where we go through a kissing gate into fields.
We then walk along through fields and woodland, up past Yarrow Reservoir then down to Anglezarke Reservoir. There is an incline just after 2 miles after which we will stop for a drink and to admire the view. Less than a mile later, and after another incline, we have a wonderful view while we eat our lunch.
Because the rest of the path around Anglezarke is still closed (it’s been 18 months now) after lunch we retrace our steps for a while (walking in the opposite direction gives us different views) and carry on towards the South end of Anglezarke where we turn opposite The Navvies Memorial.
After a pleasant walk alongside Upper Rivington Reservoir we cross the bridge between the two halves and end our walk at The Rivington where cakes, tea, coffee and alcoholic drinks are served.
Come along for a lovely scenic walk with lovely people. The walk is just under 6 miles with not much height, a few gates and a promise of good weather. Dave and Carol
