Simon Graham – Silverdale walk, 12th April 2025
After a refreshment stop at Truckhaven the coach will drop us off at Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve. We will walk up the lane and past the railway station before crossing the road and the golf course. After that we pass through fields, tracks and woods, hopefully admiring the scenery along the way. We walk through the estuary with views of Morecambe Bay, then a short walk along a narrow road before crossing and heading up through the woods towards our lunch spot.
After lunch we walk up through fields and then walk down a path to reach the Peter Lane which leads to Leighton Hall. After a stop at the top of the hill to admire the views of Morecambe Bay we walk down to the Hall and continue on to reach the RSPB Nature Reserve.
Those who want to can have a short stop in the Public Hide where they may catch a glimpse of some of the birds that visit, including Cormorants, Swans, Geese and Mallards.
We then make our way to the Visitor Centre for toilets and well earned refreshments
A nice 6.5 mile walk with a varied scenery.
