Chris Butler – Cartmel recce, 20th of June 2024

The walk is circular, starting and finishing at the Racecourse car park.
It is just short of 6 miles and has wonderful views over Morecambe Bay and the nearby hills.
There is a very short steep section at the start which will be taken slowly. We then meander past a few cottages and over a couple of stone stiles.
Emerging onto a quiet lane, we head up a longer incline into quiet countryside.
That’s most of the height done for the day, so you can relax and enjoy the rest of the walk.
The total height climbed is less than 500 feet, similar to the Haigh Hall walk.
We get views over to Ulverston and the southern fells, before heading back through the woods to Cartmel.
There will be time to explore the Priory, shops, cafes and pubs at the end of the walk.
Enjoy your day.
