Chris Wareing – Ormskirk recce, 10th June 2023

Ormskirk area walk. Leaving our drop-off location on the edge of town, within minutes we are into the beautiful open countryside of West Lancashire. We head past fields carpeted with wheat-oats and barley. A gradual ascent of Clieves Hill brings far reaching views (weather permitting) of Liverpool, Southport and even the Fylde coast. This is the lunch spot. From here we will enter the edge of Gorse Hill Nature Reserve, noted for spotting Yellowhammers, Sparrowhawks and many butterfly species. The paths, tracks, lanes are stile free and in a good state. Distance about 5 1/2 miles…(no council estates here)!!!!…..C.W.

Really looking forward to it Chris, thank you. The walk you lead last time was lovely too, despite the council area. Do not worry 🙂
