Levens, Brigsteer Woods, Sizergh – a Circular Walk of approx. 6 miles
Expect some mud…sorry, but I have changed the route for the better…
We’ll have a coffee break at Truckhaven on the way.
Depending on the weather I may make a change to the start. A possible climb behind The Strickland Arms or a walk from the pub to Sizergh car park to join the path to Levens Village. Passing the Levens’ 18th Century Methodist Church, we then make our way down Hutton Lane to Brigsteer Park and woods with views over the Lyth Valley to Whitbarrow Scar.
When we emerge from the woods, the right of way slants up the field to Park End Farm. We climb up another field where, weather permitting, we will stop for lunch. We then head back towards Sizergh passing close to the Church of St John, Helsington (1726). On a clear day you can see Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain.
Onwards to Sizergh café for ice cream and toilets before ending the walk at The Strickland Arms.
