Carole Thaw, Lancaster to Heysham recce

Published by admin on

We will have our coffee/tea stop at Sainsburys in Lancaster, after which we cross the Millennium Bridge and join the disused railway line which we follow into Morecambe. We enter Morecambe near a large Morrisons store which is handy for toilets before lunch. We then cross Marine Road to get to the promenade and walk behind the Midland Hotel to reach the stone jetty where we will have lunch. There is a cafe towards the end of the jetty.
After lunch we will walk back along the promenade to the village of Heysham where there is a lovely Chapel to St. Patrick and some Viking graves. The village hall of St. Peter’s Church might be open for cakes and refreshments, but there are also 3 cafes (The Mad Hatters, The Old Barn, Tracy’s Homemade pies and cakes) and a pub (The Royal). The coach will be waiting for us at Heysham, and the walk is about 6 miles and mainly flat. Looking forward to seeing many of you on the day, Carole.
