Simon Graham – Ambleside to Grasmere, 17th September 2022

A lovely walk today with plenty on the coach and good weather. After the usual slow traffic from Windermere to Ambleside we were dropped off at the entrance to Rydal Park. We walked through wonderful scenery to reach the Grot and waterfall at Rydal Mount. Passing through we crossed to St. Mary’s church and went through Dora’s Field to cross the main road and drop down to the River Rathay. From there we walked alongside Rydal Water and then turned before Loughrigg Terrace to go down towards White Moss car park, stopping at the bridge to eat lunch.
Then it was off alongside the river to reach Grasmere and then walk as far along the shore as possible before climbing up to the road and walking into Grasmere for drinks and Gingerbread. A great day out with lots of nice people, thanks Diane.
