Simon Graham – Ings walk, 6th August 2022

Published by admin on

A lovely walk today at Ings, with 33 members and perfect weather. After a bit of effort which involved crossing some wet ground, walking through the woods and a bit of up and down we were rewarded with our first view of Windermere. Then we skirted the back of the Droomer estate and after a few more ups and downs had a rest stop on the path through a private garden, complete with a two huge Gunnera plants, and eventually reached our lunch spot at Matson Ground with a small lake complete with a family of swans and some ducks, Moorhens and Coots. After lunch we walked through lovely countryside and after a short stretch next to a main road we turned left and headed back with lovely views (and a bit of a climb) to reach a rest spot by School Knot Tarn. Then we had another short climb before heading back to Ings and drinks at The Watermill pub and brewery. The walk was just under 7 miles, thanks Chris for leading.
