Diane Whitworth – Ulverston, 9th July 2022

It certainly was a very pleasant surprise to see so many people on the coach. 34 of us all, to be exact!
We stopped at Truckhaven for our usual refreshments before heading off to Ulverston.
Once through Ulverston we were dropped off just before Conishead Priory. A short walk down a country lane brought us into the grounds of the Priory. We then walked along woodland trails until we reached the coastal path, where we paused to admire the stunning views across the bay on such a lovely, sunny day. We continued along the path seeing lots of species of butterflies until we reached the coastal road. This was an ideal spot for lunch as there were plenty of picnic benches overlooking the wonderful views of Morecambe Bay.
After a leisurely lunch stop we crossed the road and made our way across a field before steadily climbing to Birkrigg Common. Once there, we took the opportunity to view and take photographs of Birkrigg Stone Circle and the surrounding countryside before continuing downhill to the village of Bardsea admiring the beautiful gardens along the way and then returning to Conishead Priory.
Once there, we had ample time to visit the Buddhist Temple,, explore the gardens and woodland, spend time in the gift shop and enjoying the delicious cakes in the cafe.
Thank you everyone for your company and for all your very thoughtful and complimentary comments.
